Performance test diagnoses (page 3 of N) — condenser / high-pressure line / compressor
MALFUNCTIONING CONDENSER (AC361A)
SymptomNo cooling action: engine may overheat. Bubbles appear in sight glass of drier. Suction line is very hot.
Probable causeUsually a malfunctioning condenser.
Corrective actionCheck fan belt and fluid coupling. Check condenser fan motor (For hot areas only). Check condenser for dirt accumulation. Check engine cooling system for overheating. Check for refrigerant overcharging. If pressure remains high in spite of all above actions taken, remove and inspect the condenser for possible oil clogging.
HIGH-PRESSURE LINE BLOCKED (AC362A)
SymptomInsufficient cooling. Frosted high-pressure liquid line.
Probable causeDrier clogged, or restriction in high-pressure line.
Corrective action1. Discharge system. 2. Remove receiver drier or strainer and replace it. 3. Evacuate and charge system.
MALFUNCTIONING COMPRESSOR (AC363A)
SymptomInsufficient cooling.
Probable causeInternal problem in compressor, or damaged gasket and valve.
Corrective action1. Discharge system. 2. Remove and check compressor. 3. Repair or replace compressor. 4. Check oil level. 5. Replace receiver drier. 6. Evacuate and charge system.
