Diagnostic Procedure 15
SYMPTOM: Engine speed does not return to idle smoothly when A/T is shifted from D4 to D3 with accelerator pedal released. Vehicle does not decelerate by engine brake when changing overdrive switch to "OFF" position with accelerator pedal released. Vehicle does not decelerate by engine brake when changing selector lever from "D" to "2" range with accelerator pedal released.

1. Does self-diagnosis show damage to overrun clutch solenoid circuit after cruise test?
Yes
Check overrun clutch solenoid circuit. — Refer to "Self-diagnosis".
No

2. Check throttle sensor. — Refer to section EF & EC.

Repair or replace throttle sensor.

3. 1. Remove oil pan. 2. Check A/T fluid condition.

1. Remove control valve assembly. — Refer to "ON-VEHICLE SERVICE". 2. Check the following items. • Overrun clutch control valve • Overrun clutch reducing valve • Overrun clutch solenoid

3. Disassemble A/T. 4. Check the following items. • Overrun clutch assembly • Oil pump assembly

1. Perform A/T control unit input/output signal inspection. 2. If N.G., recheck A/T control unit pin terminals for damage or connection of A/T control unit harness connector.
